The True Story
HOW IT BEGAN
I met Tayler through a mutual friend during a photo shoot session and from there, we decided to film a little short film together. Little did we know that sprout of an idea would turn into something much bigger and deeper.
Based on true stories from Tayler Holcomb with added memories from myself, we meshed our experiences together to develop a story that closely resonated to our hearts. Since both of us are artists, it only made sense that the main character was also in the arts.
After a 3 hour brain storming session, we developed the script within a 2 week period and continued refining it with the final first draft completed within the month.
We wanted to shoot in a different setting than the LA setting., so we opted to shoot in Palm Springs and decided to take a day trip out to location scout.
While location scouting(looking for locations to film) in Palm Springs, Tayler had the great idea to film a Tik Tok (social media) video to start the search for her co-star/leading actress in the film. After finishing our location scout, we looked for an aesthetic place around Downtown Palm Springs to film when all of a sudden, we saw this beautiful strip mall lit up by neon signs hung along the storefronts. Making an immediate U-turn, we posted ourselves outside and shot this video twice. This was the final version that was released that best encapsulated the tone and mood of the film. A colorful, coming-of-age, angsty, and overall teenage time capsule memory. This was our initial outreach to the world.

After a lengthy casting process, out of 23 potential candidates, we received a resume at the last second from actress Cailyn Rice. Her resume and headshots fit the exact look and type of character we had in mind for Jade.
We liked her so much that we asked for a self tape that consisted of her reading pages 22-24 of the script. This is that self tape.
We later found out that Cailyn Rice saw that Tik Tok video and submitted her headshots and resume because of it.
She was one of the only actresses that took the dialogue and ran with it, twisting it into her own inflection and truly transformed herself into the lovable character Jade.
We asked her to meet for coffee and fell in love with her personality right off the bat.
We hired her immediately afterwords and sent her the official script.
